Extended Label Info: This series of 3 paintings is framed together into a triptych. Using thickly painted brushstrokes, and impressionistic colour, Betty Sellers creates three separate relationship dynamics, and brings them together into one piece. Betty Sellers works in oil, acrylic, and watercolour paint, charcoal drawing, and in printmaking. She explored traces of lived experience, including places she has lived and people she has known. Her studio is based in Regina Beach, and at Last Mountain Lake Cultural Centre SK. Betty Tomasunos Sellers (1943-) was born in Lloydminster, Alberta. Her love of art began as a school child, experimenting with watercolour and colour mixing. In 1975, Sellers moved to Surrey/New Westminster in BC to study Fine Arts & Humanities at Douglas College (Kwantlen). In 1979, Sellers continued her studies at Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design in Vancouver, graduating with Honours in Fine Arts (1982). She moved to Saskatchewan, and attended the Emma Lake workshops from 1982 – 86. A strong member of the arts community in Regina, and in Regina Beach, Sellers served as an early board member for Neutral Ground Artist Run Centre, and for Rosemont Art Gallery, now the Art Gallery of Regina. In addition to her work as an artist, Sellers has worked as artist-in-residence and art instructor with several local communities, including Regina Beach, and the University of Regina, Extension Learning. Her artwork has been exhibited provincially, and is held in private and public collections, including the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
