Extended Label Info: This luminous, large-format photogrpah by Laura St. Pierre was a part of her solo exhibition in 2018 at Sherwood Gallery, Museum of Future History. Through her artworks, St.Pierre documents the flora of Saskatchewan’s boreal forests. Recycled glass jars containing pale, ghostlike plant specimens are arranged in vitrines and documented with luminous large-format photographs. Her work has a strong connection to the region, as her research focuses on native plant species in the prairie boreal forest. Through photographs such as this piece, St. Pierre draws attention to this important regional ecosystem in the wake of the current climate emergency. Saskatoon-based artist Laura St. Pierre earned undergraduate degrees at University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta and completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at Concordia University in Montreal. She has received arts grants from the Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Quebec, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, and the Canada Council.
