Extended Label Info: This is a wood and cardboard sculpture, created by Fred Moulding circa 1960, acquired by the Dunlop in 1984. This is a representational piece done by gluing wood and cardboard together. Moulding was self-taught and the piece was purchased in 1984 from the Susan Whitney Gallery. The piece is very a very detailed rendition of a grain tank being pulled by four horses. His sculptures reflected his life on the farm and he rendered highly accurate replicas of objects and farm life he knew and loved, giving them great character and telling a story of a life well-lived. Fred Moulding (1897-1993), was born in Cullingworth, Yorkshire, England, and came to Canada in 1912 with his family. During this time, he was a farmer and created small sculptures in his spare time.
