Extended Label Info: The practice of Saskatoon artist Tammi Campbell is primarily concerned with painting. She employs the mechanics of modernist painting – its materials, tools, vernacular, and focus on the formal elements of painting – to shift meanings and materials into new forms. In this work, the medium of acrylic paint is used as paint as well as to simulate other materials, in this case masking tape. Tammi Campbell was born Calgary, AB, lives and works in Saskatoon, SK. She has exhibited throughout Canada and has taken part in residencies at The Banff Centre, the Emma Lake Artists' Workshop, the International Symposium of Contemporary Art of Baie-Saint-Paul, and at Plug In ICA. Tammi Campbell has exhibited widely across Canada. In 2013, Campbell was featured in Dunlop Art Gallery exhibition Fool Me Twice and in 2014, Dunlop Art Gallery successfully nominated Tammi Campbell for a Lieutenant Governor General’s Arts Award. Artworks by Campbell can be found in public and private collections, amongst these: Musee d’Art Contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, Saskatchewan Arts Board, Mendel Art Gallery, University of Regina, and University of Saskatchewan. Campbell alsooperates Make Work Projects, an independent storefront studio and project space.
